La PP UNILU est créée en 1969 au sein de l'Aumônerie Universitaire de l'Eglise du Christ au Congo.
La Paroisse Protestante de l'Université de Lubumbashi a pour mission d' annoncer l'évangile de Jésus-Christ aux étudiants, aux corps académiques et scientifiques, au personnel administratif, technique, paramédical de l'UNILU et à toute autre personne selon l'ordre suprême de Jésus-Christ dans Matthieu 28 : 18 - 20.
